At the end of 2015 we finished the term with two weeks of Christmas craft activities.  We also had some fun with a game where Joeys ended up with beards just like Santa!

The Joeys started the year working on their Care and Share Challenge.  We learnt about caring for the environment by finding out about rubbish and recycling.  We also had a visit from a huge SES truck.  The Taroona Joey Mob joined us for this evening where we found out about how the SES cares for our community.

In second term embarked on the Adventure Challenge.  As part of this we had several outings away from the hall, including a visit to the Cubs and District Showtime.  During our nights at the hall we learnt about Scouts around the world.  We finished the term with a cooking night where we made some international food and managed to blow a fuse!

The environment was our focus in third term.  Some of the Joeys participated in a National Tree Day event early in the term.  We also learned about the water cycle and natural disasters.  We made a return visit to our friends at Taroona.  An outing to Knocklofty for a nature trail activity completed the term’s activities.

Fourth term saw us revisit the Care and Share theme.  We learnt about what it means to be a good friend and spent some time thinking about disability awareness.  We discovered that most of us are not very good at pretending to be blind!  A lot of cheating was done by peeking under the blindfolds.  We practised our first aid skills so that we can care for people who have been injured.  Most of us are now very skilled at applying Bandaids with some of the leaders scoring some Bandaids in unusual places.  Thank goodness no one thought to take a photo!  The Mount Stuart Joeys joined other Joey mobs from around our district in the Hobart Christmas Parade.  We dressed as minions.
