The scouts had 2 hikes happening at Freycinet on the Queen's Birthday holiday weekend.

The first was a Green Cord walk (top of the scout awards) in which 5 scouts trekked from the car park at The Hazards, round the coast to Hazards Beach and along to Cooks Beach on Saturday. Then, from Cooks Beach, over Mt Graham to Wineglass Bay on Sunday and then across the Hazards to the car park (via the lookout) on Monday. They finished up with a swim at Honeymoon Bay in very cold water before heading home. Jonathan and Alan Lee followed along behind for safety and said they were impressed with the scouts independence and ability.

The second hike was for less experienced scouts and consisted of 12 scouts and 4 adults. We hiked over the Hazards on Saturday to stay at Wineglass Bay. Then on Sunday we hiked across the Isthmus Track to Hazards Beach and then around the coast to the car park to stay at Richardson's Beach on Sunday night. After packing up Monday we went for a stop at the lighthouse before heading home. It was a real trial for some but everyone finished with a smile on their face and a great sense of achievement. You should all be very proud of yourselves.

As a leader I found the involvement of the parents and other leaders great with the support around but the scouts did most things by themselves. Thanks all for your help and company.

Ian
