In 2015 we have had another good year. We have maintained a regular turnout on Wednesday nights of about 25 scouts and had 6 cubs link up to scouts during the year, with another 4 scheduled to move up in the New Year. We also have 3 or 4 scouts moving on to Venturers in the New Year too.

Over the past year we have participated in a heap of varied and interesting activities, including.......

  • State events like regatta, gang show, youthfest, Clarke trophy, Corroboree, and Cuboree
  • District events like Showtime, District camp, leadership course, swimming carnival (incorporating founders day), JOTA/JOTI camp, the inaugural ANZAC vigil and ANZAC march
  • Group events like group camp, triathlon, winter fun night, garage sale and group camp
  • Preparation for the Australian Jamboree 2016 in January for 7 scouts and 2 leaders

We have also been busy as a troop with

  • an overnight hike on Maria Island and another to Cockle Creek
  • a cooking night
  • a visit from the Venturers
  • a visit from, and to, Lindisfarne Scout Troop
  • a visit from the police and fire brigade
  • a navigation from the hall to Mures
  • some indoor rock climbing
  • kayaking on the Derwent
  • our relationship with New Town Rivulet Catchment Care Group (see the work we have done along Creek Road !!).
  • a new environmental relationship with the Hobart City Council (thanks Gabrielle)
  • Water safety at The Aquatic Centre
  • award work in and out of the hall

There are pictures and short stories of our adventures included on the web page – so check them out and see if you’re on there!!

Leaders have also been busy training and being trained to be able to run these programs.

In 2016 we will continue with the fun and energetic program we all love; camping, hiking, cooking and socialising, and growing up and learning along the way.
