Mount Stuart Scout Group was established in 1959, and has been providing activities for the youth of Mount Stuart and surrounds for over 60 years. We meet at the Mount Stuart Memorial Hall on Byard St between Raymont Tce and Darling Pde, Mount Stuart, TAS, 7000.
Scouting Sections
Joey Scouts (5 to 8 years old) meet on Wednesday nights
Cub Scouts (8 to 11 years old) meet on Thursday nights

Venturers (15-18 years old) meet on Monday nights
Section meetings follow the Tasmanian public school term and holiday calendar.
Our Leaders go through a comprehensive training program involving 36 hours of online (computer based) training, 3 weekend training camps and a project taking approximately 10 hours. At the end they have VET Certificate IV qualification in Leadership and VET Certificate IV qualification in Frontline Management. There is also the ongoing requirement for Leaders to attend some training each year to maintain and expand their abilities.
In Scouting, we give youth the opportunity to grow outside their parents' shadows whilst still being in a safe and controlled environment.
We teach life skills like risk assessment, first aid, leadership, team work and responsibility.
We offer the opportunity to push their limits and conquer their fears.
We offer them the chance to make new friends and pass on their knowledge whilst gaining knowledge from others.
We try to help the child grow into a mature, understanding, trustworthy and compassionate person able to contribute to the community and make the most of their lives in whatever they pursue.
The more that youth participate in Scouting events and offerings, the more they will get out of it, as will their parents.
